The Hound Group holds some of the oldest breeds in the world. Man has hunted animals for food and sport for thousands of years, originally using primitive trapping methods, bows and spears, but the hound breeds evolved to help in this pursuit. Many of the dogs shown on tombs of the pharaohs and other Egyptian art are included in this group.
